Pioneer Trail road closure expected to last several weeks

The district has received confirmation from the City of Chaska that the Pioneer Trail road closure between Hwy 41 and Village Rd. is anticipated to last several weeks as City and County staff complete the necessary repairs. Our understanding is that there are more extensive repairs required on and beneath Pioneer Trail. The road is closed both ways between Village Road & Hwy 41. Jonathan Elementary is accessible from Village Road. Parents and students are encouraged to find alternate routes while this major road is closed. Eastern Carver County Schools Parents/Guardians: We recognize that economic situations change throughout the year for families in our community. At this time of year with the new semester, we want to remind all Eastern Carver County Schools families that free and reduced price meals are available for students who qualify. Parents/guardians may apply for meal benefits at any point throughout the year, and as often as their financial situation or household size changes. Hooked on Books…and the Arts, too! – Feb. 2

Join us for a morning of free family fun to celebrate reading and the arts! Saturday, February 2 9 am to Noon Chanhassen High School This year’s event features Susan Verde, author of several award-winning children’s books including I Am Yoga, You and Me, and The Water Princess. In addition to writing books for kids, she also teaches yoga and mindfulness to children of all ages. Hooked on Books…and the Arts, too! is a community-wide celebration in support of literacy and the arts. The event integrates literacy and the arts in an imaginative and innovative way through activities, performances, and books by local authors.  The annual event is a partnership between Eastern Carver County Schools Community Education and the Carver County Library. Board approves school calendars for next two years

At its regular meeting on Dec. 10, the School Board approved the school calendars for the next two years. All students, Kindergarten through 12th grade, will start school the day after Labor Day. New next year: the district has added two assessment days for grades K-5 during the week before Labor Day. Completing these “Assess & Connect” sessions for students in kindergarten through grade 5 will allow teachers to plan and deliver personalized instruction sooner. Targeted reading instruction and interventions can also begin earlier in the year.
