The Book Fair is right around the corner and WE NEED YOU! Donuts with a Special Person

Watch for fliers coming home next week which will be inviting students to “Have a Donut with Someone Special.” This morning event will run from 7:45 am to 8:30 am on Thursday, February 23rd and Friday, February 24th. Students are invited to bring a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle or any other special caregiver to share in donuts and juice before school. This event will kick-off our spring book fair and celebrate all the star readers we have at Chanhassen Elementary.   We do need volunteers to make this event a success! What does the I Love to Read/Read-a-Thon look like this year? We have changed things up this year but also kept some things the same.  This year our theme for the month is Star Wars, May the Reading Force Be With You.  For February I Love to Read, we will have opportunities throughout the month for the students to enhance and encourage their love of reading.  The Read-a-Thon will take place on February 14th.   What activities are scheduled for February I Love to Read Month? Here are a few of the things we have scheduled for the month.  We will still have the calendar the students can do at home to earn the ice cream social in March.  We will continue to do the ever popular Battle of the Books so the students can vote each week on their favorite books.  Throughout the whole month, students can earn a Caught Reading (Jedi Master Reader) ticket for a chance to earn prizes.  Teachers will decorate their doors with their favorite book and as part of wrapping up the all the festivities at...
